We got to the Grand Mosque in time today to tour the interior. To say it was breathtaking would be an understatement. I took a lot of pictures but really won’t be able to start working on them (all of them from Oman, really) in earnest until we get back to Riyadh. Except we're leaving for Iceland and Copenhagen two weeks after that! At least I won’t run out of pictures to process for a while ;-).

We also tried to tour the Opera House (and got there in time), but they had already closed for Eid (the Ramadan holiday), which actually doesn’t start until tomorrow in Oman. Apparently all the other Gulf countries started Eid today, but in Oman they don’t declare Ramadan over until they see the new crescent moon. In Turkey, they decide ahead of time and I guess don’t wait for the moon sighting at all. Odd.
