Waag

The Waag is Amsterdam's oldest surviving gatehouse, built in 1488. Public executions were held here, and later it became a public weigh house (waaggebouw) where peasants had their produce weighed for tax purposes. It now hosts a restaurant, with an open-air market located next door.

In my many trips to Amsterdam I have gone past the gatehouse many times, but have never stopped there, perhaps next September at your suggestion

That's quite a restaurant, hope the owners have progressed since those early days in 1488! A fine shot, Helen. V
