Nieuwe Kerk, Dam Square

Nieuwe Kerk (new church) dates to the 14th century and was Amsterdam's second parish church, built after the population outgrew the Oude Kerk (old church). Its present size dates to the 1650s. Since 1814 all Dutch monarchs have been crowned here, which was why it was closed when we were there since the coronation was only a week or two away.

Pity that it was closed as it too is beautiful inside. I feel like I'm in the Dam Square once again!
