This magnificent altar was created between 1477 and 1489 by Veit Stoss and is the centerpiece of St. Mary's Church. It measures 11 by 13 meters and was higher originally.
When we were here last year, the altar was under restoration. We visited the church twice this time as I was disappointed with my first pictures and am a little happier with the second group. It appears to be light in there, but it really isn't, and I found photographing it to be quite a challenge. All the churches we saw this trip were incredibly dark, I think partially because the weather was so gloomy outside that very little natural light was coming in the windows.
