The Tunnel

I don't think this elegant and unusually shaped tunnel really has a name, but it was dug through Castle Hill by Scottish engineer Adam Clark in 1853-57 and is the major entrance to the Chain Bridge, which connects Buda and Pest. It was closed to vehicular traffic on this major Hungarian holiday to make way for the procession of the blessing of new bread at St. Stephen's Basilica.

Perfectly lined up with the row of lamps leading the eye to the light at the end of the tunnel. Nice artistically designed arch. V

Love the architecture of this tunnel and the people give us and idea of it's massive size.

I love this weathered conical entrance way leading to the light at the end of the tunnel. Amazing it's still in common use after 150 years.
