Lord's Coffin of Garamszentbenedek (1480)

Not thought to contain any human remains, it is still wheeled around in Easter processions. The upper part was meant to resemble a Gothic chapel and represents the Heavenly Jerusalem, while the lower section is the symbolic sarcophagus of Christ. The coffin was created for a Benedictine abbey in what is now Slovakia by carvers who worked with the mining towns nearby.
