Viziváros, plague statue

Situated below the castle and basilica, Viziváros (Watertown) is a district that runs along the Danube, full of Baroque buildings, narrow cobblestone streets, low houses with nice gardens and such. This was a statue erected in 1740 by the people of Esztergom in thanks for having survived an outbreak of the plague.

I have seen so many of these throughout Europe. This is a very ornate and pretty statue! V
