Gül Baba was a Muslim dervish who died in 1541, just after the the capture of Buda. He is said to have been one of the few Ottomans who were loved and revered by the Hungarian people. His tomb was built between 1543 and 1598 and is surrounded by a beautiful rose garden (his name means Father of Roses in Turkish).
