Neighborly ambience of Duddington Place

This charming street is named after Duddington, the estate of Daniel Carroll, which encompassed much of what is now the National Mall and western Capitol Hill. The main plantation house was started in 1791 and completed by architect Benjamin Latrobe (who was living at Carbery House a few pictures back) in 1797. The mansion was torn down in 1886, but this quaint block survives in its name.
