A word of explanation: VOG is volcanic smog. It's produced when fresh lava enters the ocean and
converts raw earth chemicals into nasty airborne acids (like sulfer dioxide, etc). It's hard on
the eyes, lungs, and affects some more drastically than others. Since the local volcano has been
erupting continuously since 1983 (!) we tend to see a lot of VOG! Some nights even the setting sun
has a hard time cutting thru it.

This was one of those nights.
