This image and the previous one hold special significance for me. My good friend and occasional cycling companion Wayne Scrimshaw died as a result of a fall on the roadway near this spot in the 2003 Keahou-Kona Triathlon. I was officiating the race from the back of a motorcycle that day and witnessed his accident from a point about 30 feet behind. Rest in peace, Wayne.
