conditioning

This is the method I prefer for treating and maintaining a wooden cutting board. Melt some wax (here
I use beeswax) into ordinary mineral oil. Apply the oil liberally as often as needed (more when the
board is new) and let the wood absorb it. Eventually the wax will seal the fibers against moisture.

Answers to a couple of the questions below include: (1) Beeswax can be found for sale either online or
at many local health food stores. I found mine above in crystal powder form in the spices section of
my Natural Foods store. (2) The wax shouldn't harden in the mineral oil mix if it has been fully
dissolved in a warm batch. But even if it does you can always reheat it and go again. Warm applications
are the best anyway since the mixture will penetrate the wood fibers further. And that's what you want.

A couple of questions: Where do you get the beeswax, and doesn't it harden in the mixed storage with the oil?
