A number of people have asked about the "home made" solar filter I used for my Venus Transit photo.
So here it is. I made this several years ago to fit on my 8-in Meade telescope. The filter material
used is a thin piece of mylar-like film that is specially made for solar viewing. The enclosure is
nothing more than card stock shaped to fit neatly on the telescope. But it all worked perfectly on
my camera as well... with a little bit of masking tape.
It's shown here on a tripod - but that was just for this photo.
In practice all the shots used for the composite were hand held.
