aftermath

Alii Drive, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

Not exactly a stunning photo, but some of the tsunami after effect in Kailua Bay, Kona, Hawaii following the 8.9 earthquake in Japan.
More photos and information regarding last night's tsunami impact on Hawaii can be found -here- and -here-. And, as Tom notes, this was only a 2m (6 ft) surge.

About a half a mile down the street things were much more serious: Alii Drive surge. And, saving a fish.

And for those of you interested and technically savy enough to handle Google Earth, go -here- and grab the KML file for some amazing Japan post-earthquake overlays.

I was wondering how this event would effect your coastal cities. Glad to see you're fine and still shooting, Dave.

Dave
great to see your picture and the amazing power of the sea. Just think my wife and I had dinner down here about three weeks ago and to see the damage from the waves is incredible.

Thanx for the photo, Dave ... just imagine what it 'could' have been like with a 30-foot wall of water coming ashore ... let's hope we never find out.

I'll double that, Ann.
