Yes they are an mbuna from lake Malawi. The super red top is a line bread varient which doesn't actually exist in the lake. Labidochromis sp. "Hongi" does exist in the lake and is found mostly around Hongi Island off the Tanzanian coast.

I used to raise African Cichlids many years ago. It seems I have forgotten most of what I learned. Was this breed from Lake Malawi?
