About Me

I was born in Famagusta, in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I came to Turkey for education and now I live in Istanbul. I work in an international medical company.

I have been interesting in photography since 1994. This interest has been clipped in time, but I went into photography wholeheartedly again with digital technology.

Recently I am interested in documentary photography, and now I take picture for my projects.

I am from the part of the worold that is full of trouble. My country is divided into two part, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus which is my home land, and Southern Cyprus, known as Republic of Cyprus. Cyprus is my shelter, my home. I visit my homeland very frequently. I want to note that I believe an equal agreement between Greek and Turkish sides in Cyprus. But on the otherhand, I believe that Greek government misleads the world, and encourages Greek fanaticism in Cyprus. This will never help peace in Cyprus.

I want to remind that in 2004 there was a referendum for Greek and Turkish sides in Cyprus. Both side voted Annan Plan for peace. And Turkish side voted as YES for peace and Greek side NO. This was the first and the unique referendum in Cyprus history for peace.

My thesis is very simple about Cyprus issue: Today, the world recognise Greeks as the only official government in Cyprus. In condition of peace between the sides, the Greeks have to officially share the island, resources, funds with Turkish. Why do Greeks share this resources with us by accepting peace today? Why do they accept this peace today? At present, they are the only official government in Cyprus. The Greeks have already had everything. Because of that, The Greeks block the peace in Cyprus as they did in 2004 by voting Annan Plan (known as United Nations Plan), which they refused peace in Cyprus by voting "NO" in referendum.

Unfortunately, the world is also the reason of this issue and solidify the issue by accepting Cyprus in EU.

Sorry in advance! Sometimes my photos reflect the political visions but the political situation in Cyprus is in real life. So it is really hard to split life and political points in Cyprus, surely, this is reflected in photos as well.

One of my project is about the reflection of this referendum to both population.

My favourite photographers are Alex Webb with his extraordinary colors and moments, and Nikos Economopoulos (a Greek photographer, it shows that I like Greeks :)) with his exceptional vision make me crazy (by the way, I consider one of photos of Nikos very populist taken in Cyprus)

In Turkey, Ozcan Yurdalan with his documentery photos and unique travel notes, Haluk Cobanoglu; for me he is one of the best documentery photographer, who can deeply explain the spirit of this field and makes the words understandable.
