I started this 6 mile roundtrip hike with an additional 1.5 mile detour up a gulch and along a ridge for some incredible views. The waterfall at the end of this very hot hike with its mist, breeze and shady tree area was a little paradise which I appreciated all the more after the hot hike through the desert canyon (most of the hiking is on sand in direct sunlight). To my shock, a number of families did this 6 mile hike leaving the parking lot with no water. You are in the desert people, at over 5,000 ft, in the summer heat, walking on sand in the sun. i felt sorry for their kids...
