Morning Glory Pool ~ June 10

Yellowstone National Park

So named due to its resemblence to the flower of the same name. Vandalism and people thoughtlessly tossing coins and trash into the pool blocked the natural vents however and the natural color faded. We're told that Morning Glory Pool has "somewhat" returned to its former glory only due to a concerted effort to clean the pool of manmade debris. Prior to its vents being blocked Morning Glory Pool was known to occasionally erupt as a geyser.

It's a very beautiful, well composed and exposed, shot.
Sad story...

If this is only "somewhat" restored it's hard to imagine its original color. I was looking at your other Yellowstone galleries too. You got a ton of really nice shots.

Gorgeous color and remarkable pool. People are just idiots. They should post signs "No idiots allowed in this park" but then they wouldn't have any visitors.
