Weir Dam

Terrace, Minnesota

A weir is simply a small overflow-type dam used to raise the level of a small river or stream. Weirs have traditionally been used to create mill ponds, such as this mill pond in Terrace, Minnesota. Originally built to power the flower mill in town, the building of which has recently been restored.
