My apologies for the camera shake. There's an old formula, often called "The Reciprocal Rule," that states the minimum handheld shutter speed should be the reciprocal (1/x) of the focal length. (Of course this doesn't necessarily apply to systems that employ image stabilization (IS) or vibration reduction (VR).

However none of these adequately account for movement introduced by shivering.... ;-)
