Top image: Having just gotten out of the water, the Mallard shakes off the water before proceeding further on land.
Approaching flight shot (taken at 850mm with my 500mm f4 VR lens). Note the brownish colour of the secondary wing feathers. For normal female Mallards, these feathers are blueish.
