Four images of a Horned Lark. Previously I had only gotten shots of the Horned Lark from a considerable distance. This Lark and his/her buddy, a Lapland Longspur, were found at Petrie Island a few days ago by a fellow Pbaser . These two buddies stuck together along the grass and rocky shores of the Ottawa River. Photographers were able to get full-frame shots at will as the Lark and his/her buddy just kept on foraging for food. Only occasionally would they fly off a short distance if one of the photographers got too close, only to come right back and continue eating.

Puffed-up Front View. At this point it appears that the Lark had had enough and wanted us to get lost so that he and his buddy could go on eating undisturbed.

Note: The Lark and Longspur had been at the same location for several days already. Reportedly they were still there this afternoon, the 21st..
