System Counet Pistol By Counet And Sold By Francotte
This pistol is a top break, single shot pistol. It is beautifully engraved and has superb case colors. The caliber is .22RF Short. This pistol has the typical German ear protector front sight, called a Korn. The rear barrel sight is almost a miniature of the Swiss target rifle sight. All of the proofs appear Belgium. No maker name is evident anywhere on the gun. Definitely a beautifully crafted single shot, top break pistol. We ask the viewers to help identify the use and manufacturer of this piece.
We received the following information from Allen: This pistol is shown and described on pg.109 of "Die Scheibenpistole" (The Target Pistol) by Ott Halfmann and Bruno Brukner. They identify it as a System Counet, patented and manufactured ca. 1907-1908 by Counet using the finest materials and sold by the Belgian Francotte firm.
Thank you very much Allen for taking the time to help us identify this pistol.
