For those of you who are like us and want to know how master craftsmen perform their magic - here is a gallery of an engraved 1873 Maynard barrel stub that has been resurrected from the junk bin and fitted to an 1882 receiver. The original barrel was engraved at the breech and had an 1873 .50-70 chamber, a most unique combination. The engraving is original to the stub, the machine work and forearm was accomplished by John Bly and the rust blue by Charlie Danner. The last seven photos are of a John Bly .44-100, 32 inch tapered round Creedmoor barrel, rust blued by Charlie Danner. Exquisite work from beginning to end!!!!

This workmanship is extraordinary. I love seeing the transformation from a tid-bit of a gun to a beautiful, full-blown Maynard. Who is this John Bly? T.N.
