Marlin Ballard Model 4 1/2 A-1 Presentation Rifle

This Marlin Ballard 4 1/2 was a presentation rifle awarded to Michael J. Kelly in 1889. He was the captain of the Boston Beaneaters Baseball Team. It was presented by Frank Norton. Nimschke engraved: A1 Ballard on the left side, Mid Range engraved on right side. Barrel length is 28 inches, caliber is 40-60, weight is 7 pounds. It has a English walnut stock, and steel butt plate with checkering. The J. M. Marlin A 1 Mid Range was first offered in 1876 and discontinued in 1883.
