Saint Xavier Catholic Church -- Saint Francisvlle, Illinois

Approaching its 100th anniversary in 2016 St. Xavier Catholic Church in St. Francisville, Illinois will celebrate its last service in May 2014. The Catholic Diocese in Belleville has announced a program to dramatically reduce the number of parishes across southern Illinois.

The church has a deep history in this small community and features a beautiful array of stained glass windows.

I agree this has been a treasure in all of us memories! Once they are gone they cant come back! As a ST.Francisville native it is a sin to tear this church down!Start the petition stopping this I will sign!!

I think they need to preserve more landmarks and historical sites and stop tearing them all down!

Why wouldn't the people and the town want to preserve such a beautiful, historic church! May it always remain a cherished landmark for St Francisville, IL.
