Dropped by the reunion committee meeting last week to listen in.
Told the signups for the Natsunoya luncheon and train ride are very small and going very slow.
As in the past few reunions it seems most are waiting till the last moment to signup.
The luncheon will definitely be held regardless of the numbers but the train ride may have to
be cancelled if there are not enough riders.
Give Pearl a call or email her or myself to let her know of the headcount as soon as you can.

Thanks for the update and pics Gerri.
Will post those pics on the website as soon as possible.
Keep checking the below link until I do.

Glad you were able to take care of the form work Pam.
As you might have noticed, unfortunately I wasn't able to get to Kincaid's

First things first, I've had a problem with the computer that I have the primary
email address book on and now using another computer.
As such, I may have missed a few classmates in sending this blog or perhaps
sent it to an old and no longer used address.
Apologies for that, please inform me of issues and will work to correct it if so.
In the meantime, please pass this on to any classmate you know who may have not
received this particular email.

Thanks Pearl.
Besides Raynor's I've received several inquiries on the cost of the Las Vegas
Golden Nugget banquet.
To be honest, I did raise at least one eyebrow myself at that figure of $88.50
Here's what I found researching this:
The base price of the particular dinner banquet buffet selection is $68
Added tax of 8.15% and service charge of 22% brings it to $88.50
The dinner banquet buffet selections base price at the GN LV start at $55
For what it's worth, I found prices for dinner banquet buffets, with the same
added tax and service charge, to run from around $120 to upwards of $170
or more at the Strip properties.
I somehow was unable to find prices for the banquet buffet dinners at the Boyd
properties, i.e. The Cal, Main Street Station, Fremont.
Bottom line, prices for nearly everything have really spiraled upward since we
last had a reunion in Las Vegas.
Following, according to Pearl, is the description of the particular dinner banquet
buffet selection.

Poached Shrimp, Fresh Horseradish, Cocktail Sauce and Mustard Remoulade
Crumbled Bleu Cheese, Red Onion, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Sliced Vine
Ripened Tomatoes, with Stilton Dressing
White Anchovies, Homemade Croutons, Aged Parmesan, Steakhouse Sliced
Tomatoes, Basil, Balsamic Vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Pan Roasted with Lemon Butter Sauce
Braised Mushrooms, Roasted Garlic Oil
Apple and Raisin Chutney
Madeira Mushroom Sauce
Mini Crème Brûlée, New York Style Cheesecake, Berries, Chocolate Cake

Included with all dinner buffet menus are fresh baked dinner rolls, creamery
butter, freshly brewed coffee, decaffeinated coffee and selection of hot teas.

Dinner Buffets menus are for a minimum of 35 guests and served for a maximum
of 2 hours
All prices are subject to change and do not include prevailing sales tax and service

My pleasure Pam, looking forward to seeing you and the others.

Got Pearl's mailer re upcoming Reunion events.
Really appreciate her and all the committee's efforts at setting up
the events and getting the word out.
For clarification, the $88.50 Vegas banquet is a per person cost ?

April 5, 2017

Got my newsletter the other day and posting it online for those who may not have received
theirs as yet or may somehow not have it at all.

Added on the date for the Vegas Vance Tours that was inadvertently omitted in the newsletter.

Thanks Doug, how true.
For me integrity is/was everything, especially with my business.

Never thought of it that way Ruth... very appropriate - the Year of the Horse.
As beautiful as Hawaii is and how much we love it, it's still an island in the middle of the
Pacific... a rock as some would put it.
In LV for instance, jump in your or someone's vehicle, drive for a few hours and you
could be many miles from where you started.
Here in Hawaii, you could probably end up where you started from.
And yes, the area surrounding Glitz Town is far more diverse than most would think.

Pam, as noted above, I've posted the newsletter online should you not get the mailed
newsletter for whatever odd reason.

Ahh train rides Tim, one of my favorite modes of tour transportation.
Though I haven't done extensive train travel as you and others have the few I have done
have all been wonderful experiences, through Asia, Europe, Australia, U.S.A and
even the one that circled Kapiolani Park in the goood old days when we were kids
( if that counts ) .
The only sleeper compartment portion that I did was an ovenighter from Strasbourg to
Antibes and it turned out it wasn't necessary.
I was awake almost the entire night, the wide-eyed tourist fascinated by the nighttime
scenery rolling by.

Hi Brenda and Robert; this is quiet and shy Ruth so you never hear from or/of me. anyway,
I would love to see those Arabian horses, or any horses for that matter cuz they are
practically my favorite animals, after all we are all the year of the horse.
You make Nevada sound like a very wonderful place to live, at least part time, for me!
I am not much of a casino person and only time I go there is class reunion time and last
time I realized there is so much else to do than the cheap ono food and wonderful outlet
shopping and ritzy shows!

Hi Hal,

I noticed that you mentioned having the newsletter mailed out end of the month.
Since I'm leaving Canada on April 8 and it might not get here before I leave,
can you please have Pearl mail mine to my son's address in Hawaii?

Thanks so much. See you soon!

Love riding trains, haven't done the local ones.

Amtrack is great and if you can plan ahead tickets are cheaper the earlier you buy them.
Took a month trip on Amtack from Chicago to Minneapolis/St Paul to Fargo then Seattle
then Portland.
Got off and spent a week or a few days in each city then got back on.
Had either a bedroom compartment or a slumber coach so had total privacy.
All meals are free and each car has a bar with refreshments that are free and porters are
young professionals who are trained to provide service.

In India did Palace on Wheels and had my own compartment with bathroom.
Stopped in major cities for tours during the day then boarded again and went on to next
Convenient and well organized and great meals.

For Machu Pichu took Orient Express.
Great meal and allowed longer time among the ruins
