Please all, enjoy, reflect, and just as importantly, have a safe Memorial Day.
The reunion committee needs input on a possible 'Casino Night' for maybe
sometime this year.
Call Pearl or email me to join in the discussion.

Thanks Doug, for the word of wisdom.
We definitely should be thankful for whatever we have, great or small.

My thoughts were the same Sandy, with all of us approaching or having
already reached the three-quarter century mark, really should get
together more often... and yes, with Summer already here, planning
for an event this year hopefully we can get to ASAP.

Pearl, I'm guessing Manny has by now already addressed some of our
concerns and questions.
Hopefully that means the event is possible and planning can start soon.

Again, to all, we need input on possibly doing a 'Casino Night' for one
of our reunion activities, hopefully for this year.
Please pass on your thoughts and suggestions to Pearl or myself.

Thanks for the heads-up on 'Casino Night' Manny... and yes, we most
certainly do have hope, with the other generation... and ourselves.

Aloha,
Hal

Hi Pearl, I would vote for this year if timing works out.
I'm just amazed at how quickly time is passing when you're on the other side
of the hour glass.
Summer is almost here and new year's didn't seem that long ago.
Yikes!

I think a 'Casino Night' would be a good attraction even though I'm not
into gambling myself.
Note that a number of us will be on trips or unavailable in Oct-Nov and
who knows when else.
My other, perhaps unwarranted, concern is the legitimacy of 'Casino Nights'.
I really don't have any idea on the Hawaii laws re: such, but thought that
if awards of value were to be given, nothing of value was to be taken
in return.
Then again, I believe Bingo, raffles, etc. don't fall under that 'rule', so who
knows, maybe 'Casino Nights' doesn't either.

Aloha to all, Pearl, call me 808-*****424.
No problem with a location.
My friend just had a two day crap event.
First place, trip to L.V.
Second, $1,000.
Why wait till next year.
Some of us might not be here.
Months and years are getting far and in between.
Mahalo Thomas, the students at Mililani are just as good or even better
then some private schools.
Doing my times in their classes, not one student was out of line.
Not one (F) word was heard.
We still have hope.

God bless,

Done and posted Shinty, also posted your email to Laura Yonamine Itokazu (KHS '61)
since there may be a few '61 people who read this blog and can pass the info to their
golfing classmates that they may know.
If any of you don't have Shinty's email address, email me and I'll pass it on to you.

Good to see you're still very active as always and joining in, Carole.

True Pearl, we may be creaky and slow but still young in mind and heart.
I like that idea too Manny, bring Vegas to Hawaii rather than the other way around.
Anyone, and not just the previous committee members, if you have a place in mind
please pass it on and do join in with the committee at meetings.

You're welcome to think 'out loud' anytime Manny, and pass it on to us on the blog.

Sorry to have missed you and Jack, Gerri.
Sounds like you all had a great time with great food.
I actually didn't get to LV until the first of May, having been in California beforehand
visiting family among other things.

Your Mahalo posted Tom, to our resident true Kupuna.
Also your response to Shinty.

Aloha,
Hal

Hi Laura, Hal referred your name to me since you are the '61 reunion chairman.
I am the current 60' golf tournament chairman.
We have been holding golf events for over twenty years now.
Hal and I gave thought to the idea of holding future reunion events with your 61' class.
With aging and mobility catching up to us, we anticipate that physical events such as golf
will have a lower turnout over time.
But more importantly some us have close 61' classmates who we knew from social clubs,
sports and other school activities.
A golf event would be a good way to start.
Can you provide me a list of 61' golfers.

Thank you.

Aloha to all,

Hal, just was reading the list of classmates that have passed, hopefully to a better life.
A great amount of sadness came over me as I read their names.
I placed myself back then, as a young student, thinking about what life was out there
waiting for me .
I was wondering if all of them were thinking the same.
As I grew older, I would think about my younger days, and how good it was .
As i read the names, it came to me again.
One of my best movies is, How Green Was My Valley.
I hope their valleys were as green as mine.
Beside the loved ones around, How Green Was My Valley was back then.
I hope they filled their dreams in what life gave them.
I was lucky, God gave me a good woman, who is still by my side.
I hope all of you still here, feel the same.
There I go again, thinking out loud.

God Bless,
Manny

Aloha Harold & dear friends,

So you were in LV probably the same time as us, 4/24-29.
Our daughter, Kim & husband giftd this trip to us.
Too bad we did not run into you on the strip that was packed to the gills w/ families/cpls
wall to wall.
Crazy but hardly anyone in casinos & restaurant.
I was under the weather 1st 3 days.
Met w/Doug Okada who is still fit & well.
Doug graciously hosted us & Richard Seichi, who looks great & doing well, to a delicious
dinner at Makino Japanese Buffet (fantastic poke, sashimi, sushi, seafood).
Attractive, clean, orderly, busy, felt like being in Honolulu since diners seemd comprised
of resident Polynesians, various Orientals, no tourist type.
Loved it, check it out.
Hope everyone had a memorable Mother's Day.

Blessings & Malama pono,
Gerri Digmon

Short message to thank Manny for his contribution to enlightening my grandson's and
his classmates' lives with one of his appearances at their high school, ( Mililani High ).
Thank you Manny, they all enjoyed your presentations.
Also tell Shinty, yeah I'll be there at the next golf tournament.
Mahalo, catch you all on the next rerun..

Good to be back from attending a trade show.
Finally had a chance to visit the Wetlands Nature Preserve Park in Las Vegas.
Great way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Sin City.
Unusual that I didn't spot any classmates or even other Isle folks in LV, except
I thought I spotted Walter Masuko and his wife.
Anyway, here's another edition of the 'Everything Las Vegas' for those planning
a trip there soon.
http://www.everythinglv.com/forums/content.php?361-Everything-Las-Vegas-Issue-889

Another great golfing event coming up thanks to the effort of Shinty and previous
ones by Ron Higa.
I'll try to drop by at the 19th hole just to say hello as the rest of you should if you can.
Deja Vous all over again as Shinty and I seemed to be on the same wave-length.
Below my response to his query on the KHS '61 class.

Funny you mention that.
I was just thinking of how great it would be to have some of the '61 guys you
knew drop by too.
I could include the ones I know in the email blog as I sometimes do.
Then again, maybe you would prefer including them at a later event.
In any case, the main contact for the '61 people is Laura Yonamine Itokazu
She's their Pearl Shimooka Mori counterpart.
You can use this email to forward an email to her if you wish.

Hal

Shinty, a while back you mentioned that you believed Milton Tamashiro was
deceased.
Unfortunately that turned out to be true as I was able to determine.
http://www.pbase.com/halinhi/khs60gbnf

Good fun incident a while back while away.
I received an email inquiring as to how tasty an item was... Huh ?
Turned out to be a mistakenly sent message from a classmate... no, not saying.
While reading the blog the other msg popped up and, sure enough, the reply to
that was sent to me.
Anyway, from the consequent reply, it's good to know that the blog really is
being read.
Part of the reply: "You see, I do read your blog"

Hey Arline, which ' young'uns ' are you referring to.
Last I checked, all looked to be ready for our 75th birthday reunion next year.

Thanks Tremaine, another valuable contribution of info from you.

Manny, you are a true Kupuna... yes, an elder, grandparent, relative, close friend.
But I like this one: 'a powerful source of wisdom '
I'm sure there were some back in our school days who would have said
" who, Manny ? Nah... no way, nevah happen ".
Good example of really applying and dedicating oneself as we got older.

Sorry about that Louise, I know you are now able to view the photos with the reply
and work-around I sent to you.
It's a problem stemming from my side of the emails that I will try to correct.
Meantime, as I mentioned to Louise and others, do a copy and paste of any of the
posted links if they aren't 'clickable'.

Aloha,
Hal

Aloha to all my young classmates.
We have been busy this last month.
One week at the Merry Monarch Festival, selling our craft.
I have been having people from our Lua PA coming to my house on Sundays to make
Lua Hawaiian Weapons.
This Sunday, a young student from Kauai flew in for the day and came to my house,
just to make a weapon for his grade in college.
Glade you found one more of our classmates.
We are at the Moana Surfrider hotel every Sat from 0800 till 1400hrs with our craft.
If anyone of you goes to the Kahala Hilton, in the lobby is a large glass Koa case.
Inside is a Hawaiian Alii feather cape.
The Hawaiian War Weapons made from Kauwila wood is mine.
Also my lawyer friends went to Japan for a meeting with the Japan Lawer's Assoc.
and will given them a Koa Weapon from Hawaii.
If Pearl is thinking of a small reunion, we can have a casino night.
My friend has all the tables and the dealers.
Well my wife of 56yrs, just called me .
Must respond with a YES DEAR .
God Bless to all the students of my youth.
