OK Shinty, soon as I find out what the schedule will be like I'll let you and everyone else here know.

Good idea to have the tournament at the same time as Ron and others have done in the past.

Not many opportunities for classmates from different points on the planet to enjoy a particular area

of interest together at the same time and place... especially now for us in our advancing years.

With that, a thought comes to mind.

I'm sure there are many of you who have other areas of special interest who would also enjoy being

able to share that interest with classmates much like the golfers.

Pass on any ideas you may have for your particular side group gathering come reunion time and I

can post them here for other classmates to ponder or wonder, whatever they may be.

Besides golf, maybe bowling for one would be a common interest... or watersports... hiking... biking...

tackle football ?

No laugh, read a report where a few control groups of seniors were tested for effects of positive

thinking on life expectancy and quality of life.

Seems positive thinking (I going live long and be healthy) may indeed prolong life and help quality, to

the point where one control group of previously rickety seniors broke out into a spontaneous game

of touch football at the end of their testing session experiment.

But anyway, no need to be sports, any kine of common interest could be possible... let us know.

Thanks Pearl.

REMINDER: reunion committee meeting - November 13, Thursday, 6PM at Unity House... all are

encouraged to drop by to help out or even just listen/observe/talk story.

Edwina... not sure if that's the store that everyone else is referencing, but yeah, the Okamuras had their

store on the Ewa-Mauka corner of the Campbell/Duvall intersection.

As Roger and Doris have pointed out, the store on Kapahulu right adjacent to Crane Park was the Himuro

Store... so now I'm more confused... where was the Otani store that others have mentioned ?

OK Pam, did your SO have an OB/GYN or similar doctor in the family, in Hawaii, way back then ?

If so, Vern would like to do a payforward for the okole slap done just to introduce him to this world.

Pam... one more... one more... you, Abu, Tony, Nelson, Calvin, etc, really do have to get together again.

And there you go... no need for be sports or whatevah... any kine special interest or excuse to do mini

get-to-gethers, most especially around and during our reunions when classmates make it a point to

gather where other classmates will be.

Here's the latest on the Promised Land for the pilgrims headed there in the near future.

Hi HAL...

Elaine Okamura's (Newton) parents owned a store on Campbell Ave. around that area too...Okamura's Store.

Could that be it?

Hal - The name Halford as in Pamela Machida Halford brings a question to mind.

Seventy-two years ago, a doctor Halford brought me into this world at Queens Hospital.

Is there any relation?

Kinda curious.

It's nice to be remembered by Pamela Machida after all these years.

Seems the years go by and I've wondered about this lady from Kaimuki Intermediate school days.

We gotta catch up sometime.

Sounds like a plan Sonny, who knows, you might have a few take you up on it.

OK Pearl, I should be able to make it on that date.

I'll post a reminder on the blog just beforehand along with a reminder for suggestions.

This 55th reunion should be another milestone like our 50th... that's quite an accomplishment.

Most of us will be 73 give or take a year and we won't want to miss this and have to wait till we're 78

or so for the next milestone of our 60th reunion.

Got it Rog, it's Himuro Store on Kapahulu... and Okamura store on Campbell... and Otani and Okada

stores somewhere in between... and I'm totally confused.

What was the name of the tiny restaurant-lunch place in the building directly back of the old Hale

Niu shop on Kapahulu ?

I remember having lunch there a few times during school lunch break, then sneaking... uhh,

heading back into school after.

You know Pam, I haven't seen any of those guys since I think the last reunion either.

All the more reason we need to make this next reunion a good and well-attended one.

Hal

Harold:

I can't recall the name of the store at corner of Campbell and Castle, but Doris Toyooka Johnson confirmed

that the store on Kapahulu Avenue was Himuro Store.

So, an entry in your next blog can read, "I think that the store on Kapahulu Avenue which was adjacent to

Crane Park and across the street from Leonard's Barkery was Himuro Store."

Hi Hal,

Sure wish I was at the golf tournament just to see fellow classmates that I haven't seen since high school

= Abu, Calvin, Nelson, Tony = who don't come to our lunches when I'm in Honolulu!

It's good to see the ones that always come but I was closer to these 4 in high school.

These blogs are so good to keep in touch and hear what's going on with everyone!

Thank you so much for your work!

Love, Pam Machida Halford

I think that the grocery store on Kapahulu Avenue which was adjacent to Crane Park and directly across

Leonard's was Okada.

Welcome back home.
