trendy extreme-contrast photo effect

My photoshop user magazine came today. Scott Kelby had a down and dirty trick that I wanted to try. So, I used my grandson's picture of two days ago. It's part noise, part sharpening and part extreme contrast and is supposed to create a trendy look. You can be the judge on that one. If you want to see more examples of this effect, go to Jim Fiscus' site at http://www.fiscusphoto.com. I went one step further and used a nik color effect on top of the image.

Canon EOS D30

I saw that tutorial, too, and thought about trying it. Nice work, Rene.

I like it ... all emphasis on the subject. I love Scott's books ...

Humm... I don't know... The effect is interesting, but I think his eyes lose a bit of impact in this one... I like the noise though, looks interesting in this kind of subject.
