From the Poetic Edda poem Grímnismál:
"Hugin and Munin fly each day
over the spacious earth.
I fear for Hugin, that he come not back,
yet more anxious am I for Munin."
Huginn (thought) and Muninn (mind). Friend Manu pointed out that Munn also means "mind" in Sanskrit and Hindi, a nice record of Indo-European continuity.
