The town of Udaipur is built along the banks of two lakes, both of which were mostly dry when we visited. One can only imagine the beauty of the town when the lakes are full. Rajasthan is mired in an extended drought. Disappointing monsoons have led to an average annual rainfall of only about one inch for the past four or five years. The historical average is 4 to 5 inches per year.
