Early morning cranes

Rowe Sanctuary, NE

Taken very early, just before 6 am, using manual focus. More cranes are awake now. They hang around for several hours, preening and courting each other, before taking off for the day to feed in the fields.

Isn't this an awesome experience? For several years I did an annual trip up to Kerney for the Sandhill Crane migration, but unfortunately I've missed the past two years. However, here is one of my images taken around the same time of morninghttp://www.pbase.com/britestar/image/77832461 as yours.
