In 1988, as a sophomore at the University of Georgia, I spent a summer with the Honors Field Geology Program. Its goal was to take non-geology majors and immerse us in hands on field work. We traveled through the entire American west, and also visited British Columbia and Alberta, visiting major locations such as the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Mt St Helens, the Burgess Shale, Rocky Mountain National Park, etc. The program is still active, but has evolved to cover more topics beyond geology, and is now known as the UGA Interdisciplinary Field Program. I thought it would be fun to meet up with the current group for the 20 year anniversary in 2008 (meeting them in Yellowstone), for the 25 year anniversary in 2013 (joining the group at Mt St Helens), and 30 years in 2018 (hiking Grand Canyon and Zion.)
Of course being from 1988, these photos were taken with a film camera. I had a cheap 35mm (not an slr) camera and was not a good photographer. So most of the photos I took were pretty bad quality. These are some of the better ones. I scanned the prints with an Epson V600 scanner.
