Another problem signal that defies any logic.
Whilst DC gives us blinding signals that can be seen 15 km's away, that are placed a few feet from the front of your train...we have post 16 at Oakleigh...
Its placed out in the scrub, and is focused for a 'distant' view along the straight, before you round the curve into the platform. The signal hoods are long, obscuring more of the dull lenses.
Sitting in the platform, you can't see it...if the signalman puts it to STOP, most drivers would SPAD past it, as you cannot see it.
Ummm, been like this for decades....any complaints ? Union boys ?, OJT's, SCIDs, caring and safety concious Connex/Metro drivers....
Ummm, apparently not, as its still like this. A co-acter was promised years ago, but apparently the useless/senseless co-acters at Hoppers Xing and Wellington Pde came first.
Metro means safety...on a wing and a prayer.
