This species breeds from southern Texas south to Panama, and usually winters in northern South America. It's a rare but regular vagrant to California, with almost all records of first-fall birds in September or October. This first-fall individual was found by Gary Woods in Laguna Grande Regional Park in Seaside, Monterey County, 29 September 2015. These photos were taken 3 October.
