This Gray Flycatcher was found on the Oakland Christmas Bird Count in December 2009 by Su Cox and subsequently identified by Pat Bacchetti in Knowland Park in Oakland. Gray Flycatchers, which breed primarily in the Great Basin east of the Sierra Nevada, and winter in Mexico and, rarely, southern California, are very rare in coastal northern California.
