American Avocet, East Boston, Massachusetts, September 2004

Recurvirostra americana. American Avocets are rare but regular visitors to New England in fall. This male was found by Dexter Hunneman in Belle Isle Marsh in East Boston on 25 September 2004. Dexter had seen presumably the same bird nearby the day before.
