The BWCA Experience

The Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) is a wilderness area which exists along the northeast tip of Minnesota along the Canadian border. The area consists of approximately one million acres with over 1000 lakes and streams. There are no roads to its interior and no motorized traffic allowed (with a few exceptions of small motorized boats being allowed on a handful of the larger lakes). The primary mode of transportation into this wilderness is the canoe (in the summer months) and entry is only possible via a permit issued from the U.S. Forest Service. This gallery chronicles my many adventures in this pristine wilderness over the past 15 years or so. My intent here is to depict not only the spectacular scenery I've encountered in my journeys, but also the daily tasks and activities that one undertakes while spending time here.
