The new lens arrived!

Testing the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro. I now understand what others mean by "touchy". I took the camera & lens out to a field and took 108 shots of a couple of bugs. This is the 'best' of that bunch. I believe I will need to master the monopod & the f-stops on this lens.

Not bad for hand held without a flash, you'll really love this lens. I think you'll find a flash will make a world of difference, or using a tripod... though it can be difficult and time consuming. If you're going to shoot natural light, you'd help yourself by using a higher ISO of 400 and running noise reduction. Keep at it, this lens opens an entire new world to you.

Pierre, thanks. I saw your mantis in the PaD gallery. I didn't realize this was that open until I was processing. I thought I had it set to f/8 or f/10. I will be playing around with this lens for a while.

Did get this shot later though:

Yes, want to go at least f/11, using sunlight or flash, but the shot is nice. Mine today is of a praying mantis, at f/16 with Sunpak 383.http://www.pbase.com/pierresphotography/image/47800210
