Bower Bird eating a Bardi Grub Moth & a Willy Wagtail waiting for leftovers.

Australia

I didn't realise the Bower Birds ate insects, but this one discovered a live and fluttering Bardi Grub Moth and ate the wings from it, you can see the de-winged body on the stones, and the Willy Wagtail was hopefully waiting for an opportunioty to get a bit, but another Bower Bird came and flew off with the treasure. Taken through the glass of the sliding door.

Lovely shot, Bea, and fun catch of all the action. What a pretty pattern in the feathers.

You have such interesting birds, Bea. I'd never heard of a bower bird until you put up pictures. Now a willy wagtail...delightful name!

Love this shot, and the story. The detail on the bower bird's feathers is wonderful.
