Habitat: Sparse bushes on sandy soil.
Best location: Old Springs Road Open Space Preserve in Borrego Springs.
Note: Difficult ID separating from canescens form of Bell's Sparrow—Sagebrush Sparrow has stripes on back and weaker lateral throat stripe; many winter desert ”Sage Sparrows” must go unidentified.
