Hi Greg: This bird was banded as a chick on 25 July, 2005. It was banded on St. Helena Island in Canada's high Arctic. The Island is situated just off of Cape Vera, Devon Island, Nunavut. It`s quite possible I banded this individual myself as part of a broader Canadian Wildlife Service study! Thank you very much for making the effort to post this photo! Such records, especially of birds banded as chicks, are rare and quite valuable.
Nope, Karel. I was hoping someone banding these would tell me. If it was banded on the breeding grounds that would really be interesting as it is a remote area. If my geography is correct, they breed on islands in the Arctic of northern Canada.
