Cartmel Village in Cumbria

Welcome to the delightful village of Cartmel. The village has a Priory, a Priory Gatehouse and a Racecourse. The heart of the village is surrounded by terraced buildings and public houses. There is also a well stocked Village Shop that has a wonderful cafe above that serves delicious food and 'famous sticky toffee and chocolate puddings' that are a must try!! A slow stroll around the village shows many old properties with lots of character, nooks, crannies and alleyways that you'll want to explore. Cartmel Priory Gatehouse is owned by the National Trust and has an ajacent little bookshop that has been here since 1933! I hope you will enjoy my tour of this quaint village.

Thanks for the memories Graeme - I used to stay in Cartmel every Whitsuntide when was a little girl. Fabulous to see it all again.
