Welcome to Blaise Hamlet.
The cottages in the hamlet were designed by John Nash for John Harford in 1809, to house Blaise Estate Pensioners in Henbury, Bristol.
The Hamlet consists of nine individual cottages that circle a village green with its own sundial and pump.
All of the cottages are Grade 1 listed and were compromised of a kitchen, a sitting room, a scullery and an outside lavatory, which would of been very cosy at the time.
Each cottage is individual in its design and they have separate back gardens and they all face onto the green.
When built they would of been surrounded by acres of countryside.
Today the hamlet is surrounded by a high walls and although next to other modern housing, walking through the gate and up five steps into the hamlet its although time has stood still and one is transported back to the 1800’s.
Upon walking around the pathway that surrounds the green, each cottage faces the pathway.
Though one can walk up to the garden gates of the properties, no one is allowed into the gardens as they belong to the tenants who live in the cottages which are rented from The National Trust. But just strolling around the village green one senses an air of calm and tranquility not always found in our modern day busy home settings. Sadly one of the cottages called Dial Cottage had scaffolding all around it as it was having its roof re-done, so I have not added this cottage because it would spoil the otherwise tranquillity of the hamlet.

Ces maisons typiques sont pleine de charme. Les couleurs sont pétillantes et les détails bien rendus. Les cadrages sont bien réalisés et présentent bien les maisons. C'est un excellent travail.
