Canal Street Streetcars

New Orleans

The convention is beginning and I only had a moment to snap a couple of photos between the Convention Center and my hotel. The streetcars are finally back on Canal Street in New Orleans after years of work and planning. They're red and air conditioned, unlike our beloved green St. Charles Avenue streetcars.
Does anyone know what's going on in the gallery? I re-posted a couple of times yesterday because my photo kept disappearing. I noticed may thumbnails that weren't visible. I hope it's repaired today. I missed seeing some of my favorite photographers' work!

some would say that the pillars are too much in the way but for some reason I like this pic very much! great feel of perspective!!

Very nicely done.

Great composition! Nicely framed between the lamp posts. The light on the streetcar adds another layer of warmth and mood to the pic, and the pedestrians add that touch of human interest/action. Well done!

Very nice image. Somehow it makes the viewer a part of the picture as well -- as if I am there awaiting the streetcars. Nicely done.

I think the disappearing image problems seems to be fix.
This is a fun image .. lively and well done.

Nice photo. Your grandfather was a streetcar conductor in 1913.

Hi...I love New Orleans. When I left Wisconsin I seriously considered moving there, but Florida won. I was last there is 2002; now I'll have to get over that way to see the air conditioned street cars!! Nice photo; the lamp post works for adding depth of perception and a sense of scale. Good job!!

Great shot Gayle, love the way you framed the cars. Just can not get use to the red cars. I miss the old green, but we still have St Charles streetcars.

Nice shot... I like the effect of the light on the back of the streetcar. I also particularly like that the cars are compositionally on the upper part of the photo. Nice one!

Very nice catch Gayle! I love it!
I've been having problem with the AMAZING DISAPPEARING IMAGES too! I guess there is comfort in knowing you are not alone!

Love this shot! The lights on the cars and the curvy tracks add so much to the mood, while the streetlamp in the foreground adds dimension.
