Welcome to Hatem Gomaa's website for raptors in sculpture.

This website contains a few of my life-size decorative realistic carvings (or as I like to call them - "sculptures") that I have done in the past. I will be updating the gallery very soon with pictures of a piece that I am currently working on. It is a life-size red-tailed hawk in a rather angry posture with its mouth wide open staring at the viewer. This is a commissioned piece and through the years I have noticed that the red-tailed hawk is the most revered of raptors amongst people interested in purchasing this art form. The reasons extend from the familiarity of this wonderful raptor to its beauty and range of colors. Sometime in my lifetime, I hope, God willing, to do a series of the red-tail portraying several of the subspecies. I won't be carving all 14 subspecies, but most likely the very dark and absolutely stunning Harlan's (B.J. Harlani), the Western sub species (B.J Calurus), the Krider's (Krideri) and possibly the Fuertes (Fuertesi). "B.J." Buteo Jamaicensis is the red-tail's species binomial name. The Western is one of the more exciting red tails as it's coloration varies exponentially within that particular sub species itself, sort of an extension of the B.J. Borealis which is the more common of red tails (and the ones I have carved and that you see in this gallery)) known simply as the eastern red tail. Easily the most recognized and more common raptor of all the sub species. I will try to update the piece as I go through it from the carving too the texturing and to the painting.
