Amber was the ancient capital of Jaipur state. Overlooked by the never-captured Jaigarh fort, the magnificent fort-palace of Amber is a beautiful example of Rajput architecture. The fort was started by Maharaha Man Singh in 1592, the Rajput commander of Akbar’s army, and later extended by the Jai Singhs before the capital moved to Jaipur.
