First attempt to summit Mt Baker - July 23, 2009! Started on the bikes at the town of Glacier (314 Meters). We slogged it up on the bikes to Heliotrope trail entrance, stashed the bikes in the woods (1033 Meters) and hit the trail. At 1770 Meters we pulled out the ice axes, put on the crampons, roped up and began our ascent up the glacier. We climbed to the bottom of the Roman wall (2808 Meters). Clouds rolled in so we decided to turn around. Round trip was 10 hours. We will try again soon!
