The weekend started out very nice after a week of inclement weather. In the woods sunlight streaked through the fall foliage revealing birds normally hidden in its shadow. Perched on a low branch just off the main trail a Great Horned Owl curiously eyed the occasional visitor that happened by. I tilted my camera up and framed it against a gold-yellow backdrop of maple foliage. The look it gave me was priceless. The owl didn't look too big which lead some to think it may have been a juvenile. Thanks to Gillian for pointing the owl out to me.
